Intensity Levels of Anger Thermometer | Anger Decoders Curriculum Lesson 3
Product Details

Help tweens and teens understand how anger changes in intensity and how to recognize it before it escalates with this Anger Thermometer Activity! This printable anger management lesson uses a visual thermometer, relatable scenarios, and guided reflection to help students recognize their personal anger levels, identify emotional warning signs, and explore strategies for responding to anger.

Students use the anger thermometer worksheet to visualize different levels of anger, then apply what they've learned with 30 What Level of Anger? scenario cards. They can also create their own scenarios, use the bird-themed emotional check-in poster, and participate in guided discussions about how anger feels and changes over time.

Designed for grades 5–10, this activity works well in individual therapy, small-group counseling, and middle or high school social emotional learning lessons. It is also Lesson 3 of the Anger Decoders 10-Week Anger Management Curriculum, but can be used as a standalone lesson.

📌 Important Notes:

Anger is a valid emotion. The purpose of the anger thermometer is to help students recognize and communicate how intensely they are experiencing anger, not to label their emotions as inappropriate.

Anger intensity is personal. The same situation may feel mildly frustrating to one student and extremely upsetting to another. Encourage students to identify their own experiences rather than assigning a single correct intensity to every scenario.

Some anger responses may reflect sensory overload, unmet needs, unfair treatment, or environmental stressors. Coping strategies can be helpful, but students may also need accommodations, advocacy, or changes to their environment.

Allow students to choose how much personal information they share, especially during group discussions.
